I am not sure why/how this collab came about? I am pretty sure Fred Perry will be benefitting from it hell of a lot more than Stussy.I guess the biggest connection these 2 brands have are their relationship with music and youth culture.
Fred Perry gained its music relationship in the late 50s when mods picked up the classic white Fred Perry polo and demanded a more varied colour palette. It was the shirt of choice for diverse groups of teenagers throughout the 1960s and 70s, ranging from the skinheads to the Northern Soul scene. Of course Fred Perry has it’s unique heritage, but as they stand today with their marketing/pr/advertising. I think they would of been better off raising their stakes by themselves, rather than tagging onto a street brand that has managed to maintain its street cred for over 20 years???? Ummmmmhhh we’ll see???? Maybe this is the end of “cool” Stussy, who knows with their London store closed they may start stocking in Topman!! Lets hope not.
